Compression Technology
Compression technology is the most important factor to consider in Digital Video solutions. Once the hardware models can provide the solution needed, the end user must ensure that the recorded video quality, file sizes, and bit rates are acceptable for use in the solution.
If the recorded video quality does not enable identification of the suspect, or clarity of the event, then all money spent on the solution has been wasted.
MPEG-4/Part 10 AVC (Advanced Video Codec) - also known as H.264 is the digital Video industries NEWEST Compression technology.
As with all electronics, newer equals better, more advanced and more efficient.
H.264 offers higher image quality, lower bit rates and better handling of fast motion then earlier compression techniques.
Patronus Labs covers all methods of video Capture/Viewing
1. PC based DVR – analog video to the PC, video converted to digital format in the DVR for storage. Viewing locally or remotely over the network.
2. Embedded (Standalone) DVR - analog video to the embedded DVR, video is converted to digital format in the DVR for storage. Viewing locally or remotely over the network.
3. IP encoders/IP cameras – the analog video is converted to digital IP video stream at the IP encoder/IP camera. The IP video data video is transferred to a PC for viewing and storage over IP networks.
4. Mobile DVR – similar to the Traditional DVR, but built tough for use in vehicles. Viewing locally or remotely over the network.
5. NVR Recorders – Captures an IP video data stream from the network and records it to computer hard drives.
6. Remote client software – Enables remote viewing over the local network or internet
7. Decoded Video - Patronus Labs offers conversion of Digital Video streams into Analog video for display on Analog monitors.
